I am new to Mac and ordered a mac book pro about a month ago. I went to plug in my svideo to my computer to watch a movie on the big screen and there is no svideo. does anyone know how do do this with the new mac book pros. I know how to hook it up to another external computer monitor with the cable provided by apple.

Do you mean there is no S-Video out port? This is true. You need a DVI --> S-Video cable adapter.

I have a DVI cable but do you know if there is a DVI cable to Svideo connection out there. It appears that a DVI cable only works with newer TV's
