There is a lack of game demos for Mac. It's quite stupid really. I've seen this situation happen a lot:

    - User looks for demo of game but doesn't find one
    - User has heard good reviews so buys game anyway
    - Game performs horribly on user's system
    - A new game comes out
    - Again, no demo
    - User then pirates game to see how well it runs
    - "I already have the game now, so why should I buy it?"

Apparently the Halo demo has boosted sales. Hopefully the game publishers will notice that demos are a good thing.

I hate not being able to try a demo before buying. Anyway it's irritating since making a demo doesn't require much effort (you already wrote the whole game, right?).

The Inside Mac Games website has links to demos of the games it reviews/previews, so you can read about the game, then download the demo.
