So I was wondering tonight, on my drive home from work... How many of us have modern setups, good connections, and the desire to get some serious mac-on-mac action going?

Well, here's your chance. List off your machine, connection, the games that you own and are capable of and interested in playing, and your timezone. We can figure out what do with the information when it's all collected.

G4 Sawtooth, Sonnet 1.4ghz upgrade card
    768 MB RAM
120 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA HD
    PCI SATA controller
    Nvidia GeForce 3
    Panther 10.3.3

Connected on a nearly unpopulated cable node.

    Halo
    Warcraft III, Frozen Throne
    Return to Castle Wolfenstein
    Starcraft
    Quake III
    Neverwinter Nights
    Age of Empires II
    Stronghold
    The Baldur's Gate series
    Army Ops

    Central timezone.

    edit: Forgot some games. :D

    Mac + Gaming

Never thought those two words would ever be linked together...

Face in fellow macintosh fans....Macs dont cut it in the gaming market, dont get me wrong i own both a PC and a Pwr Mac dual 1.25 G4. however, the PC blows the mac out of the water in terms of gaming performance, hardware pricing (350$ for a mac=radeon 9800pro, where as PC=210$ for same card.) game selection (FPS like Battlefield Vietnam and Desert Combat, among others), server selection (rainbow 6 for the mac u have to use gamerange which on average has 2-3 good servers) where as PC there hare hundreds, performance patches (something Aspyr and macsoft dont do very well)

    Machine: between machines

    Games: Civ 2 and 3
    Starcraft
    Burning Monkey Solitaire 3
    Incoming
    etc.

Monarch: Why is there always a post "macs are not gaming machines"? Is there some law that someone always has to barge in with these repetitive posts? I'll bet I've seen a hundred posts with this same stupid message.

We know that PCs have more games, etc. We are playing games on the machines we already have. So what? What's your objection to us doing that? Sheesh!

Thanks for the hjiack, buddy, but I'm not going to let it happen. We all know that the PC side of the market is generally better for gamers, but we own macs for reasons other than gaming. As it stands, the stuff I play runs pretty damn well, and I have fun on it when I have time to get a game or two going.

Three words for you, and that's all that needs to be said : Economies of scale.

    768MB Ram

Beachhead 2002 (Biggest waste of money ever)
    Spiderman

I've spent a lot of dosh over the last few years on games (Heh! Heh! I'm a big kid at heart...).

By the way, somebody with broadband want to run a transpacific cable from your place to mine? I'm sure it will be cheaper than paying for broadband locally :(
