    Good day,

When the original Mini came in 2005 there was a problem with DVI output: some monitors wasn't able to work properly (for example check this list: http://www.freewebs.com/themagius/macintoshmini.htm). Nowadays the history repeats with new Mini. Maybe it's time to create new compatibility list? Please write also which metod was used to connect display.

    Regards

is it foolish to assume that it will work with any tv that has an HDMI port?

I would say there is no guarantee as HDMI is not full proof. The HDMI "handshake" can lead to strange issues sometimes.

You could buy the Mini and try it at home. If it doesn't work then you have 14 days to return it. Other then that do a search on the Internet to see if anyone has posted any compatibility information. That said as they have only been out just over a week it may be hard to find relevant information yet. Don't just try the Mac forums but also the various AV forums too.

Well this is a kick in the knickers. I just ordered one today and it didn't even occur to me that it would be compatible....

I don't understand what the issue is... The 'The HDMI "handshake" '? What's that?

I got my macmini today! And at the same time I bought a AOC 24" Led TV, spetially for the macmini. I thought they were all compatible. So at the beginning everything worked fine. Then I saw that the Menubar on the top was not there. I tryied everything to change it. No way! I could still use it, but not see it. I guess it has something to do with the size... or the HDMI. No idea.

I will try to return the Tv today and get a Samsung.

Are you sure it's not a resolution or over scan/under scan issue ? I believe there is an over scan/under scan option that can be adjusted. That might do the trick.

    Panasonic TX-L26X10B 26-inch Widescreen HD

Doesn't work with HDMI stays in NTSC mode instead of Pal

if you try to change to Pal screen goes blank forcing a reboot , this only happens using Lion works great in Snow Leopard

Ordered a mini display port to VGA adapter arrives 5th Aug

    update 2nd Aug 2011

I used to use HDMI input 3 on my HDTV and it worked fine in Snow Leopard , but in Lion screen would go black if i went to look at a tv channel

Since i got my mac Mini Server i decided to put the HDMI in the number 1 input and haven't had any problems viewing using my Panasonic TX-L26X10B 26-inch Widescreen HD - i have even left it in NTSC mode and it has work well, won't even try to change it to Pal as i am happy its working again

So if you have more than one HDMI input on your HDTV or Monitor try it in number 1 input

My Samsung P2450 doesn't work well. Blurry fonts like other guys I found searching on google. I tried hdmi-hdmi and dvi- hdmi using Apple adaptor found inside. I installed tinker tools but it did't change anything. It seems to be an unresolved bug or so. Don't know what do but I'm thinking to take it back to the Apple store for refund.

LG Flatron E2241 (21.5" LED 1080p IPS) works perfectly. I'm running two of them. One is HDMI-HDMI the other is TB/MDP-HDMI via MDP-HDMI cable.

The VP50 50" plasma works great with the mini over HDMI. Havent had any issues with the HDMI handshake or anything like that. Just had to adjust overscan to get the desktop to fith the screen.

Also working fine with an Acer 23" (S232HL) LED monitor. Direct HDMI connection, 1080p resolution.
