    Hello All,
Got my new powerbook, its been great so far... but i find myself struggling with os x a little bit in finding the equivalent programs for mac. Is their a list somewhere of the popular windows programs and their mac equivalent so that i can learn what they are? I'm not looking for specifics, just looking for a general list.

    Thanks

This is probably the closest you get. I would just search/browse Mac OS X Downloads (available from your Apple menu) and VersionTracker whenever you want to find a specific piece of software.

You'll have better luck if you specify exactly what kind of app it is you're looking for.

Makes it easier for us to help you :)

General means general... i saw a list for linux some time ago that was helpful, i'm just looking for a similar list for os x. I'm looking for a list that that pretty much says:

    Compression software:
Windows - Winzip, Winrar OS X - Stuffit

    Check out this list... http://www.linuxrsp.ru/win-lin-soft/table-eng.html

I'm looking for something like this for OS X.

    This might help.

Scroll down and there's a mini list. It's not exhaustive by any means but it's a good start.
