Someone did this last year as well- maybe it was the same site. Either way- I will not argue over free apps. :)

Huh, looks like they're having database troubles right now -- it was working this morning.

You mean the applications or the server space? The applications are financed via donation. It's free publicity for shareware makers who have become increasingly reliant upon this type of advertising. 5,000 distributions a day, with developers donating their apps to this effort.

Only 5000, eh? So you'd kinda have to be awake and refreshing the page at midnight, waiting to click so they don't run out?

It appears to be US Pacific time (-0800), even though the site is registered in the UK. The blurb on macappaday says "Midnight PST (the same time as MacZot)", and MacZot is based in California.

Yeah spotted that after posting, which means 8am here. Most days I'm stuck in traffic on my way to work then. Suppose I could try and get there and download it before 9am, so 1am PST.

Did anyone get the password for this page?

The clue is given in the blog post, but I'll repost it:
"The clue is in the image above. And I always thought it was QWERTY"

Is it just me, or has their website been down for a couple of days, I can't see anything about it online.

I think they were having server trouble, I think it was yesterday I was redirected to a holding page which said they were moving servers or something like that.

Yesterday (12/19) was, I believe, a planned server outage. They were moving to a new server.

So maybe shortly they'll come back online :)
