I have a MBA 1.6 80 hdd and a good majority of the time I try to watch video on my computer the video skips and freezes. I usually watch rips of tv shows with file sizes ranging from 350mb to 700mb. I never had this problem on any of my macs before. My old imac 1.83 c2d with 512 ram doesn't skip for the same videos. Is the 1280x800 resolution too much for the air to handle for video playback?

Hmm.. i have the 1.6 and im watching 720p HD content with no problems at all so im not sure what the issue is, you upgraded to 10.5.2 and installed the updated video drivers i assume?

    Yup, thats the one.

It definitely improved playback, but it certainly wasn't bad on my MBA 1.6 before installing it though either so im not sure what problem your machine is having..

Tried repairing permissions etc..? (Disk Utility) or tried using a different player? If you aren't already using VLC (videolan.org) try that instead.

Yeah, I use VLC. I'll try watching a video tonight see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

There seems to have been quite a few reports of people having problems like this. I created a thread a few days ago to collect the issues people are having as a reference if your interested in adding your problems here.

Quicktime on the MBA does seem to drop more frames than my MBP, but I've only seen problems with 1080i and 1080p mpeg2 and x.264 video. Lower res still plays fine. It all plays fine in VLC.
