So, the thunderbolt display works great. Can you use the thunderbolt display (in shell mode) to a connected laptop when it's on battery power and not using the AC adapter provided by the display?

The display works when open (i.e., as a secondary machine) but when I close the laptop like usual to use the display as the only display, it doesn't work - meaning doesn't wake up from sleep...

Maybe it's designed to only work with laptop connected to power source?

    Thanks!

You must be plugged into power for clamshell mode to work.

Just curious-- Why would you want to plug the Thunerbolt Display into one side of your MBA without attaching the MagSafe power into the other side???
