hey guys is the 17" Macbook Pro worth it for 500 dollars more for a bigger screen, a Better Superdrive and a firewire 800 port? I can get the Macbook pro 15" For about 2,300 with tax for a referbished one. Also is a 7200 RPM HD worth it for a extra 260 dollers? 2,562.20 for a new 15" Macbook Pro with a 7200 RPM Drive in it. I don't know if i want the 17" i am on a buget and for 500 dollers i can save it or later on get a Nice External Moniter, and external faster DVD burner for that much.. suggestings?

Do what I did. Get the cheapest 15" MBP with a 20" Dell Monitor. If screen real estate is that important to you, you can't beat this deal. Plus with the edu discounts ($200 off, and a free nano), it is one of the sickest setups for the money you can buy. Remember, the 15" MBP has an express port that will soon be able to accommodate the FW 800 expansion cards (once they are released). I love my 1.83 Ghz MBP, do yourself a favor, and get an iCurve as well.

I'd just get the 17" w/ 120GB 5400RPM, the 7200RPM is a bit hotter and uses a bit more battery, plus you get 20GB more space... and if you get the 17" then you get the same screen resolution as a 20" Apple/Dell LCD (1680x1050) all the time...

Thanks guys i am on phone right now buying a Referb 15" Macbook Pro for 2,150 dollars. Great price. 17" was nice but not worth the extra 500 dollars for a bigger screen. (I can always buy a external one)

I have two 17" MBP and I love them. However the 20" iMac is starting to get me and im liking it.

15 is okay too as long you are not gaming, read about it on barefeats.

You get lucky from time to time on Referb machines. There been cases of extra ram/HD and graphic cards.
