Hello,

I have had my CD MacBook Pro for a couple weeks now. It's recently started to make some really loud noises. It sort of sounds like my electric toothbrush. The sound seems to be coming from the bottom right side of the keyboard. It only happens when I am doing a lot of intensive stuff, but it's really annoying. Can I get this fixed or is this a common issue that will arise with any MBP?

Cheers, Tom

My MBP (CD, 1.83) is pretty darn quiet even doing CPU intensive tasks, from my experience, I don't think I'd consider it a common issue - might want to get a second opinion..

I just logon to ask exactly the same question.
Sometimes, I can't use my MBP during a meeting or a seminar due to the noise.
Mine comes from upper-left of my MBP (where the esc key is).
I'm just wondering if the issue can be fixed if I send it to Apple service.

Is it the fans?

Mine only makes a lot of noise if I have a bunch of apps open, like mplayer, firefox (with a bunch of tabs open), second life, itunes, etc, at the same time.

This has to be the most quite laptop I have ever had. My hp dv1040us was like a freight train compared to my pro. Rarely hear the system running.

Well, it has been for a couple weeks, but it just sort off kicked off yesterday. Today I shut her down while I stepped out to Casino Royale (great film!). Just rebooted it and I am getting a slower version of the same noise. Actually sounds like a fan is hitting something. Definitely gonna call apple about this one. Really frustrating stuff!

Sounds like the ball bearings in the fan.
