Being a multi-platform computer user, (one being a MacG5-dual 2.ghz, 20”Planar LCD etc.) My new Athlon 64fX 53 Linux workstation also has very impressive performance being a single 64bit CPU. I often wondered how Mac X10 (if it was possible) would perform on an Athlon 64fX. What do you think?

Personally I think that the G5 is more similar to the Athlon 64's than any other x86 chip.

Sure the FX 53 is clocked at 2.4Ghz and has 1Mb of L2 cache, but it was also released very recently. Not to mention the things run about $700+

I am not trying to belittle the Athlon, but won't be a fair comparision until the G5 updates are released.

I think there was a very long thread about this some time ago.
