CompUSA is closing a number of stores - could that be the reason for the cheap price?!

I guess they like faking people out too. The picture is of a Macbook Pro, although it's really a Core Duo (NOT Core 2 Duo) White Macbook. It only has 512 MB of RAM, 60 GB Harddrive. It's the old version of the white Macbook.

Actually this is old news as they lowered those prices on the old CD MacBooks a couple of weeks ago to clear out old stock. At that low of a price they all sold out within a couple of hours and they almost certainly won't ever be getting anymore back in. It was a great deal for the few people that got one that morning though.

CompUSA has a very bad habit of leaving out-of-stock discontinued models up on their site sometimes for months, so the fact that they are still up there even though they're long gone doesn't surprise me.

too bad... that would be a quite a price, even for a core duo model.
