In short, you are encouraging the use of ad blockers on your website if you continue to promote something the community strongly dislikes. I would jump the quench that one if it were my website, seen as ad revenue is crucial.

1. I think it's fairly obvious at this point that they, MRF, Arm, et al, support neither obnoxious nor dishonest adverts, as they actively seek-and-destroy them.
2. What in the world is "jump the quench"?

The intention was to say "jump to quench", I know it may be hard to believe but I do have other things to do in life other than post of a forum so I do apologise if I do not proof read everything I type during working hours. But as a website developer I would want as few people as possible to feel the need to use Ad blockers, if my opinion differs with your own there is no need to be ignorant about it.

I'm not being purposely obtuse, but I'm sorry you took it that way.
1. Regarding ads: One can always become a sponsor of MR Forums and remove all ads altogether. Additionally, I was being sincere: @arn and the others ask forum users to report deceiving and unruly ads and they remove them from the ad pool. I thought this was common knowledge.
2. I know neither what "jump the quench" or "jump to quench" mean. Sorry, mate, but I'm not a British bloke some I'm unfamiliar with the much of the colloquialisms from across the pond, as it were.

MacRumors has made effort to suppress the MacKeeper ads, as was mentioned earlier in the thread, and it seems to have worked as I have not seen any recently.

It is not some widely used cooloqualism; "bruh" (American Slang), I Was simply speaking in a metaphoric manner suggesting that they quench; which is a Germanic term later derrived into Old English, (meaning to satisfy one's thirst), the demand for the removal of these adverts.

If you say so; you do seem to be the expert.
(I should've known better than to question the self-proclaimed poet-laureat of the forums. How's your MRF Dictionary going, by the way?)

The Mackeeper ads still seem to be quite common on certain platforms. Browsing the forums using my 12" iBook G4 1.33 running Tiger and TenFourFox 31. Although, I doubt Mackeeper would even run on it.

Unfortunately, ad networks have become so untrustworthy that no amount of fine tuning and reporting can help. Therefore, the only reliable solution is either to add them to your host file or use ad blockers. Current using Ghostery, Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere, OpenDNS to eliminate scum from my web experience. Start by adding googleadservices.com, doubleclick.net, mackeeper.com, and zeobit.com to your custom OpenDNS block settings and life with be immediately better.

let write a script to click on those ads to drain their $

Normally advertisers don't pay per click but per impression so they have already paid by the time you see the ad. Clicking might make them more likely to show those ads to you and to show them on macrumors though.

either way, it helps to waste the impression.

Do it via a virtual machine. no worries.

My understanding is that advertisers usually pay for both impressions AND clicks, and they pay a higher rate for clicks.

Well it entirely depends on what deals the advertiser strike with the advertising provider. I may have been a bit bold to say "normally" as I have no stats at hand to say what the break down between all the different combinations available is but pay per impression certainly isn't an uncommon option.

OK.... we all know Mackeeper is closer to malware than anything to help a Mac user....

SO WHY THE HELL IS IT IN MULTIPLE ADVERT SLOTS ON AN APPLE SITE.....

looks like the people running this site care so little about their audience they aren't properly vetting what's promoted here....

The ads are placed there more than likely through an ad service such as Google's ad service, Apple doesn't choose the ad, it is just a coincidence that MacKeeper ads were placed on Apple's site.

MacKeeper was sued actually and I received a rebate from the court case, I'm unsure why they are still advertising for an application that should've been shut down.
