    Dear all,

I have already raised a question with regards to the performance on the 20" iMac. Without a doubt it's a very powerful machine but it looks like i need more power.

I play Flight Simulator and there is a new version when Vista is out that requires a DirectX 10 graphics card. Will i be able to insert a regular PC graphics card into the MacPro or what would you expect in the MacPro? Maybe the X1900 512mb XT-X?

    Thanks in advance.

    Darren

If your using it as a vista pc sure. All the intel macs really are is just very powerful good computers, so it will handle any graphics card. Now weather or not osx can support with propper drives is unknown.

There will be a BTO option for the X1900XTX in the Mac Pro.

OK, probably, you would need to buy the card from Apple as a BTO or something and then on the Boot Camp disk it'll install the needed drivers from that card, provided by apple, probably/hopefully.

And honestly, since it looks like your a pretty hard gamer, a mac isn't for you. Yeah, they have the best OS, but Macs just aren't made for gaming, thanks to it's porters.

A BTO X1900 XTX sounds good. The X1900 GT might come as standard. But anyway the first true DX10 GPU won't be here until the end of 2006.

I wouldnt class myself as a major hard core gamer, but i do get dissapointed when i cant play games at full rates.

If they do a "Mac" version of the X1900XTX or whatever the directX 10 card may be called then i will get the mac becuase of the great OS.

Or should i just get the iMac for general use and then build an "Uber" pc?

What do you think all........Get the iMac and upgrade PC or Sell up the pc and go with the Intel Desktop?

I would say that you should wait and see what Apple comes out with before making a decision. No one can tell you for sure what they're going to release in August, so anything posted up here is pretty much just wild speculation. If you need a gaming computer now, get an iMac or build a PC. If you can wait for the Mac Pro, do that.

I reckon i should wait until Duo 2 is in the iMac and then get that.

When Vista lands then i'll think about upgrading my pc.

Going to make my mac the main machine i use and hook my pc up to my LCD tv for flight sim.
