Hello there. I was just wondering how many members here are women. I'm only asking this (not because I'm some horny guy looking for agood time) but because when I was standing in line for Tiger last night, I noticed about 30% of the lin was women. Which is a damn good turn out considering the Panther release had like... 10%.

So, how many of you are women, and how did you get into Macs? What do you use them for, and if you're so inclined, what is your profession?

    Thankee! :D

edit: Spelling. Sorry, I'm on a Winblows machine at work right now.

Graphic designer (print) and general fix-it lady on the office Mac network.
How did I get into Macs? No choice really if you're a serious designer.

Do you want my telephone number? :p

Off-hand, I can think of at least 15 other MR-frequenting women but I'll leave them to introduce themselves.

Some are more prolific posters than others.

Interesting. Do you have any of your graphics work online?

Yes. Most of it as PDFs on the corporate site. For that reason, I am unwilling to disclose much more because I value my privacy.

Ah, I understand. That's alright. I like privacy too. Probably why I don't party or go out like I used to. My idea of a good time is sitting on the deck with a nice cold beer, listening to some tunes and watching thunderstorms in the distance.

But my personal ad should read as follows:
Onizuka, Male, age (not needed at this time), Likes watching thunderstorms while sipping on an ice cold beverage. Ideals are high and is strong-minded. Likes to watch the grunyon run." lol

Anyway, if you ever want to share any of your work, I'm interested. even if its a small portion on a temp site. You can always PM me if you don't like public work. I'll be making some of my work public soon.

Good idea. They can speak up if they like.

I'm pretty sure I know of over 50 that post now and then (or all the time).

Me too. In fact, 3 of the first 4 in line at The Grove were women, which surprised me.

By the way, you might find it interesting to see the one official poll we've had on the subject.

Well I'm a woman, but I will admit I haven't been around a lot lately. When I was around I didn't post a lot, but I hope to rectify both of those situations!

How did I get into Macs? Not sure, but I just decided when I got out of college that my first computer was going to be a Mac. That was 10 years ago and I am an ardent Mac user. I use them mainly for personal stuff, but I am a teacher so I take my Powerbook to my Windows district because the very slow school computers frustrate me.

I would agree that last night at the Houston Galleria the line was about 30% women.

Count me in as a female Macrumourmonger. Five of the first 10 people in the line at the London store were women. Not sure about the proportion further back; but there were a lot of women in the store. Not really surprising; we women like intuitive systems!

I'm a business development manager where I don't get to use a Mac at all. I got my first Mac in 1991 because I wanted a computer that I didn't have to type DOS commands into to get into a GUI.

I got my current Mac because one of my best friends (also a woman) introduced me to her Ti-Book running Panther just as my Win 98 PC was dying slowly. She's also my partner in crime in Apple queues!

Wrong. So very wrong. If trying to get a laugh out of people means loneliness, then I get you can say I'm pretty damn lonely.

22's the age of a child? Hrm.

Sorry my friend, looks like its a no-go for you. I don't think 22 is the age of a child, but then again, maybe BV likes her men with more complexity and a well established 401k?

(just kidding BV, please do not slap me!)

well... maybe that wasn't as easy as I thought.

Well... I personally don't think that I'm a child. But if you're looking for someone who has built their life already, then I completely understand. But honestly, I was just joking around. I'm sorry if I offended you. And, by the way... younger guys have one thing going for them... stamina! ;)

No offense taken or intended. I was also just messing around and having a laugh. :)

BTW: I'm 20 years older than you... ;)

Well... yea, that would be weird. Wouldn't it. But hey, there's a guy who I work with who is going out with a 46 year old, and he's 23. She has a son who is older than he his. Whatever floats your boat :)

But, you did get me... :)
