For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Spyder to give three MacRumors winners a chance to win a PowerShadow battery case for the iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, or 6s Plus.

Described as the "world's thinnest" battery case for Apple's latest iPhones, the $99 PowerShadow case measures in at 14.5mm thick and includes a 2,750 mAh battery for the iPhone 6/6s version and a 3,500 mAh battery for the iPhone 6/6s Plus version.

In addition to adding extra battery life to an iPhone, the PowerShadow case is made of rubber-coated impact-resistant carbonate to protect the device from drops and it improves water resistance with a unibody design and port plugs. It also has built-in antimicrobial protection and a lip around the edge protects the iPhone's screen when placed face down.

The PowerShadow case charges through micro-USB, but with an optional PowerShadow Dock ($49.99) the iPhone and the case can be charged at the same time without the need to remove the case from the phone.

Spyder offers the PowerShadow case for the iPhone 6/6s in Black, Titanium, Champagne, and White, while the iPhone 6/6s Plus version is available in Black and Titanium. Both cases are priced at $99, but three MacRumors readers will win a Spyder PowerShadow case at no cost.

Decent looking design, from the front anyway, and with a more than doubling of battery capacity, what's not to like? Too bad the PowerShadow Dock is not included as a standard feature.

I really thought this was Spyder, the ski apparel, clothing, and accessories company. iPhone battery cases aren't exactly ski suits, but consider they sell belts and other jewelry type of accessories, I thought a branded iPhone case wasn't out too far from likely.

Well, it's not the worlds thinnest. I've been sporting a 11mm thin battery case for the past 2 months. It doesn't even have that ridiculous jaw at the bottom. The best part is that it uses the lightening adapter to charge the phone and the case.

It's a Kuke case on Amazon. It typically ranges from $40-$50. Best case I've ever bought, really. Not amazingly protective, but I'm not hard on my phones.

Another company coming out with a similar case is ChargeTech. It's called the ThinCharge. They've had some setbacks in production, but it's still a decent company. This case only differs from the Kuke in that it has a hair more protection, and the lightening charger port is moved to the top of the phone.

The Kuke is out now. The ThinCharge is still on IndieGoGo.

I've noticed the Kuke and it looks very good. I don't know why all other cases need to have that ridiculous chin that makes them far less ergonomic.

But several of the Amazon reviews say the Kuke case negatively impacts on WiFi and cellular reception. How have you found it in this regard?

I wonder if it's just a general side effect of using any case that WiFi/cellular reception might be negatively affected? (rather than the Kuke specifically)

I assume you have the Kuke iPhone 6 version of the case? How fast does Kuke case charge the iPhone?

Also looks there isn't Kuke battery case seller on Amazon but there are few on eBay which I'm not sure if they're legit....

I haven't found much of an issue in this area. I have AT&T, so my coverage is pretty good. There's only two places I lose coverage on a regular basis: an auditorium classroom with 300 other students and football games. Neither have much to do with a case.

Technically I bought the one on Amazon from SOLEMEMO. It's the $49 one right now. Searching Kuke brings up ones from two different sellers. $39 is the other seller, Easteem. While Easteem specifically says "made by Kuke" in the listing, Solememo does not. But he Kuke is what I received when ordering from them. This is what you get with Chinese products... a total lack of branding.

I couldn't find the eBay listings you were talking about. Just found lots of cases that weren't it.

Charging the phone from the case is fast. Without looking at the specs, it seems to charge just as fast as when I use my iPad wall charger on the phone alone. Charging the case, however, is pretty slow. The phone will charge faster than the case when both are plugged in.

Forgot to mention Kuke has an IndieGoGo for a battery + storage case. It's also the only place I've seen a slim style battery case for 6 plus.

The Kuke is not MFI (made for iPhone certified), there is a good chance it will not work after one iOS update or another as per Apple, that's how Apple make's their money! That is why all the leaders in battery cases aren't using lightning yet. The female lightning connector has not yet been approved for third party products. You will only see this Chinese owned Kuke product for sale online for this reason, they will never be carried by anyone..

Actually, I have one of these Spyder battery cases. I'm generally happy with it. A case is a case. But you don't need the dock for simultaneous charging. When you just plug the microUSB connector into the bottom, both batteries are charged at the same time. The dock is just a convenience thing I think.

So I've done some ad work for companies like this. Kuke and Solememo could be flash in the pan companies. They find a product made over in China really cheap, then get their logo silkscreened on it, then sell it as their own brand. The problem with both these cases is they don't have Made For iPhone approval and certification. This means that when Apple upgrades the iPhone operating system, there's a good chance the Kuke and Solememo won't be compatible with the phone anymore. This is why they can sell it so cheap, because they don't have to pay the licensing fees to Apple for a properly certified Lightning connector. That's also why you'll never see a major retail store carry this product. They won't take the liability risk of carrying a non-certified case. Who knows if it may ruin the phone, or worse, maybe it doesn't have safety chips on it to prevent the battery from catching fire. I wouldn't risk it just to save a few bucks.
