    Hey Folks, back again.

I have a script that is supposed to go to "Library" and look for a command based off of The words i say into the dialog box. I don't know what to put in "Library.scpt" file. heres the code that opens the dialog box.

    Code:
     tell application "MacSpeech Dictate International"
    	set microphone to dictation
    end tell
set library to (load script (("/Library/Application Support/Jarvis/Library.scpt") as POSIX file))
    library's speak({true, "yes sir"})
    repeat
display dialog "Speech Text" default answer ""
set myCommand to text returned of result
set myReturn to library's process_command(myCommand, "Speech", "Jarvis")
    	library's speak({true, myReturn})
if myReturn does not start with "I'm sorry" then exit repeat
    end repeat
    tell application "MacSpeech Dictate International"
    	set microphone to command operation
    end tell"

it opens the dialog box, but i have no clue what to put in the "Library" file. also because I don't know what POSIX is.

    TThanks!

I got a copy of the library script from the site, but now my task is, what do i put for the smaller files that the library depends on? i.e. "property jarvisname : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis TwitterName")" etc that it looks upon.

thank you a lot for the reply!! :)

    Code:
property jarvisname : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis TwitterName")
property jarvispwd : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis TwitterPwd")
property commandLocal : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis commandLocal")
property myMobile : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis myMobile")
property myEmail : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis myEmail")
property myGoogleLatID : (do shell script "defaults read /Library/Preferences/Jarvis googleLatID")

Seems like the script depends on a preferences file(a file that ends with plist).
Is there a file in /Library/Preferences/ called Jarvis.plist?

    Try something like this :

    Code:
defaults write /Library/Preferences/Jarvis TwitterName "Your twitter account name"
defaults write /Library/Preferences/Jarvis TwitterPwd "Your twitter password"
You'll get a file looking like the attached tumbnail.

More info on the defaults command here : http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/defaults.1.html

well it doesn't put the files there for me like a program. the .../..../Jarvis folder I had to put there. Theres no Jarvis.plist unless I manually put it there and I didn't. If you couldn't already tell I'm an extreme beginner at applescript.

Is there some sort of tutorial you know of that would be good for me to help me along?

All of the .plist files aren't there because I have to make them I think after reading what you said. When making the .plist files it looks like you just set the names of the "myString" 's from the screenshot you sent? Is it just a file where in the plist i say

    "Set myPwd to twitterpwd
myPwd equals (password here)" or something along the lines of that?

    Thanks!

The folder /Library/Preferences/ requires elevated privileges to write to. It would be a lot smarter to use the per-user directory: ~/Library/Preferences

Yes, you could also program it to run with elevated privileges, but why?

As I said before, I don't know enough to know to not write there. (I'm not sure I worded that quite right? )

I am working on something called "Project Jarvis" by Chad Barraford, Some of the source code is giving me issues also because I'm an idiot in AppleScript mainly because I started a few days ago.

The library files are all stored in the elevated privileges so rather than changing every link in the Library script file, just store them where "they belong" in Chad's eyes.
