I have a new HD for my G5, and need help configuring it and my previous HD for Software RAID 0. I cannot put my bootdrive into the "Drag disks here to add to set" box, while a can put my other drive in there. I think I need to convert the drive to Mac OS Extended (HFS Plus) format from Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, but don't know how to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What you need to do is boot up from a Mac OS X install CD, erase both of your hard drives and then you can make a software RAID.

So before you go off making your RAID, backup all your files.

Also both drive must be exactly byte for byte in size... what I did was buy 2 additional 120 Gig HDDs and installed those and RAIDed them. After that RAID was established I had configured Retrospect to place it's "file" back-ups of my main OS system HDD onto the RAID :)

Also how reliable is the RAID built into OS X Disk Utility app? ;)
