I was under the impression that you were only legally obligated to share your SSN with:

    1) the IRS
    2) the Social Security Administration
    3) your employer(s)
    4) your bank or other similar financial institution(s).

Perhaps someone more versed in the legalese can offer enlightenment.

There's a gay joke in there somewhere, I just can't think of one off the top of my head.

Hey, what's the complaint? "It's for the children!" Hasn't that been the justification for all manner of legislation?

In Texas, you can't renew your driver's license or get a hunting license without showing your SS card. If the computer then shows you owe child support, walk. Buy meat at the grocery.

Buy a car from a dealer? Show your SS card. Sell a tract of land through a title company? Show your SS card. I dunno if it's for the children or against a terrorist, but that's now the fedlaw.

When RealID shows up, your SS # WILL be part of that deal.
