I used to have an iBook with my G5 and I could transfer stuff easily between them via Airport. Since I sold my iBook and got a MacBook I have had problems with the 2 talking to each other. Now I need to transfer some important stuff but it just will not work at all. It has worked in the past however but only when it wanted too. Internet access from both is not a problem.

So the G5 has not had anything changed on it since I had the iBook so Im damn sure its not the G5 causing any problems but here are the settings:

System pref > Network > Airport

By default, join: Automatic

Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
IP Address: 10.0.1.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Router: 10.0.1.1

Apple Talk is active. Auto Config.

The MacBook:

System pref > Network > Airport

By default, join: Automatic

Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
IP Address: 10.0.1.3
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Router: 10.0.1.1

Apple Talk is active. Auto Config.

Any clues?

Also I have noticed while typing this that the MB airport keeps showing different networks not created by me in the window. One is an address that is about 100M away

Solved!

Ok I got it sorted. The G5 had 'afp' in the 'connect to' window and it was blocking the MB. Dont know why or how but it was there so I have deleted it and it works.
