I do not know if it is just me, but is anyone else noticing that the MBP drains quite fast when it is sleeping? My former Powerbook (17" 1.67gHz) was great when it slept overnight: I would charge it, put it in my backpack at 11pm, and when I get to class at 8am it would be at ~ 97-98%.

Last night I charged my MBP until it was full, shoved it in my backpack at 12am. It's now 7am, and the battery is down to 93%. I do not have any peripherals attached or any bluetooth devices to wake it. Is this natural for the MBP? I recalibrated my battery the day I got. Feedback would be great.

I have also noticed this. I'm not sure what the numbers are, but I've noticed that the next morning there is far less battery charge. I'll go ahead and give this a test tonight.

I can put mine to sleep from 11pm till about 9am and have little impact on the battery, about 97-98% on average :/ Seems reasonable to me.

Why don't you just not put it in your backpack until morning?

I do homework at night while it's plugged in, so it is fully charged by the time I'm done. I like to get everything ready the night before because I really want to make my mornings easier, especially the morning's where I have clinicals at 6am. Doing that I can get up, groom, grab my ***** and go without worrying about forgetting anything.

I can't say any figures with any certainty but the powerbooks gradually use power on sleep. Remember, whilst on sleep the computer is still using power - the memory is powered up and there's that little light to flash;)

I'm noticing the same thing with my tibook. I thought it was because I just switched to a new newertech battery, but this makes me suspect it might be the OS. What OS are you running? I'm running 10.4.5.

If I leave it sleeping for 2 days, it's down to around 50% for me. That seems like more battery drain than it should be. It used to be maybe 85% if I left if unplugged and sleeping for a few days.

It could be that the new memory (being higher speed and you probably have more of it than before) draws more power. Remember that even when asleep, the memory still needs to be refreshed to maintain its contents. That's about only thing that needs power when the mac is asleep.
