I am getting conflicting information as to what memory to buy for my new 12" 1Gz PB G4. Apple's site lists a 1Gb block as =$700 for PC2100 and I have found sites MemoryForLess.com that have it priced at $349. But they list it as PC2700 and it dosn't look at all like the memory that Apple sells.

What should it cost, and what kind do I need.
I believe in maxing out the RAM early on, so I am looking for a 1Gb. Also, I really shouldn't run FCP on anything less than that.

Another vender ApplesOnly.com

In advance- Thank you.

Some of the Apple 12" Powerbook G4 models use DDR 266(PC2100) and some use DDR 333(PC2700). In almost all cases the PC2700 will work on a system that only needs PC2100 as long as all the other specs are met.

Thank you.

How do I know what memory my PowerBook can take?

It is a refurbished 12" 1Gz. I just bought it. It has not arrived, but I just realized that I need to add memory.

Does anybody have any recomendations as to venders?

If you go to Apple's Specification Page and then select the machine you have, it will show the memory type and memory modules your machine can take. I believe the 12" 1GHz is the DVI version.

As for which to buy, people seem to like Crucial and Kingston.

The Spec pages were just updated and the 1gz modle is not listed. Thank you all. I am looking at Crucial and at Kingston.
