The Nation article by Jeremy Scahill

I'm not going to quote the article as I'm not sure if The Nation allows that.

The long article talks about Blackwater and their attempts to avoid liability in the deaths of 4 men in Falluja. The families contend that BW cut corners to increase profits and should be directly liable for their deaths.

I've always felt that the hiring of mercenaries is bad for the US, it understates the number of people actually involved in Iraq, they operate in a legal no man's land, and they're extremely expensive. They also could potentially give rise to private militias and that's the last thing this messed up country needs. Needless to say mercenaries are almost exclusively Republican.

If the families win, there's a good chance that the role of mercenaries will be extremely limited, if not....
