Messages.app doesn't load messages sent by iPhone and it doesn't load the messages already received on the iPhone.

I had the same issue on the beta of messages.app
Sometimes if i set my MBP in Standby, Messages.app will start to reaload all missing messages.

I already tried to disable / turn the iMessage Account -> No success :(

I think this has to do with something on Apple's end. If you change your phone's message "caller ID" (settings, Messages, scroll down to "Receive at" and then set the "Caller ID") so that your computer, iPhone, and any other Apple devices are all using the same "Caller ID," then messages started on one devices sync across all of them.

There are two problems with this at present:

    1) For the person you're messaging, sometimes this will create a new message discussion. It doesn't seem to matter if their address book includes your phone number and the email address you're using for iMessage. Aside from being an annoyance, if they ever choose to message you through the older discussion, or if they ever message to your phone number, then only your phone will receive the messages.

    2) In iOS 5, only your phone can choose to have your phone number as the caller ID. In iOS 6, the phone number seems to associate with your Apple ID, and other iOS devices associated with that Apple ID can use the number as their message ID.

My hope is that it will all integrate more easily around the time that iOS 6 is released. I and a number of other iMessage users noted some changes to how iMessage was relaying messages between devices a few weeks ago, even though no changes had been made to device software, so it's clear that Apple can do some things on their end...

Thanks a lot for this detailed description :)

But how to explain that messages nevertheless will reloaded? Partial after hours, days later.

Sometimes if my MBP were in the standby mode, than Messages.app or the Apple server seems to reconnect again.

I had very often this issue with the beta of Messages.app (jumping dock icon)

I read somewhere that Apple is fixing this in iOS 6 by allowing iMessages to combine message threads based on contact, not phone number/AppleID. I just wish I could find the article...

Same problem with iMessage on iPad. Hope Apple will fix this and get iMessage synced on all devices. Damn I love the idea of having a conversation on my iMac when at home, and can just leave with my iPhone and continue the conversation.

Ive tried using my Apple ID as the caller ID for iPad, iPhone and messages.app, however, only a few of the threds sync to the iPhone.

Im wainting for iOS 6 for this stuff i think. Its just way to hard to find the error at this point. Love the idea of sending from the computer though. Wouldn't it be sweet if we could message people who didn't have a iPhone from within the messages app? Could be done with bluetooth...

Hope they add this soon! Could even work entirely via iCloud, with the iPhone turned on - the messages would just have to go through the phone.

I assume there is no way to have Messages import all previous messages before I installed Mountain Lion, no?

As in: all messages I sent and received since I installed iOS5.

I like to keep my chat logs in one place or if redundant completely synchronized.
Now this better be 100% in-sync, albeit I really doubt it. *sigh*

    Anyone?

Same here. the messages app worked pretty damn well when I first installed the beta a few months ago. Fast forward to now, with mountain lion and ios 6 beta, hardly any of the messages sync up with each other properly. 2 of my friends, it will sync up properly, and the other 2 it wont at all. ( I have more than 4 friends, dont worry ;) ) One of them they said it starts a new thread when I message on my mac.

I dont understand how it worked as a beta app better than its doing as an official app in mountain lion

Same issue, hoping it would be fixed in Mountain Lion, they said maybe iOS 6 will correct the iOS syncing.
