I finally met my first MacRumors member in person: sord.

sord definitely has some interests in common with me. In fact, sord inspired me to program more often (and take the time to learn how to use XCode).

We were right next to each other in the line to buy Tiger at the Apple Store.

How did you know at first that you were both MR members?
    Secret handshake? ;)

I asked about MacRumors. That's how I found out.

But the real question when you meet someone from MR - did you introduce yourself with your real name or with your MR ID?

I'm like dotnina, I would die of embarassment if someone came up to me and said "Aren't you mac-er from MR?"

Well, at a Tiger launch, it's more the equivalent of, "Excuse, but aren't those the new Prada sandals?" in normal conversation. ;) :D

Wrldwzrd, we should start a "people who know how to program but never do it anymore club" and come up with some interesting team MR XCode project. I know I fall into that category too... I installed XCode 1.2 (?), wrote a few basic programs, forgot about it, upgraded to 1.5, never used it.... which reminds me that I forgot to put XCode 2 on my iBook from the Tiger cd. :(

I guess I should wait on XCode 2 until I reach the point where I am comfortable deleting the rest of my previous systems folder, though....

I only used to know how to program in C and Matlab, and not very well to boot. Count me in. I actually need to learn C++ anyway. :)

I still don't understand how you managed to know that Sord was a member of MR, but I'd be embarrassed as well. I'm more serious online, although I'm not all that serious here.

How would one do an animated GIF? Each successive still image left-to-right, top-to-bottom, like the icon-parade when os9 boots?

Sounds like a great idea to me, mkrishnan!

Best of luck with finishing up the post-Tiger-install cleanup process. It took me two days before I was fully up and running as before...except for the fact that Stuffit Expander won't install now.

Mine is animated. That could be a problem.

This sounds like a common problem. I haven't dealt with it yet...nothing I needed to re-install came stuffit. But clearly it's an interesting problem, since so many things are distributed stuffit. Wonder what'll happen....
