    Well I Guess

if MSFT says that Windows is cheaper and better than Linux you have to believe them. Because MSFT are and honest reliable company.

    Speaking of Fallacies...

For me, that's evidence that open source code gets more security attention. More bug fixes don't mean more bugs... they mean more FIXED bugs.

MS say that open source is a threat to the software industry. Bring it on. Apple dont do too bad writing their own and adapting and integrating open source software into their OS and practically giving it away in order to secure their main source of income - the sales of Mac computer. MS cant go that route so obviously they will fight any threat to their predominantly software-only business tooth and nail. Years ago, the MS licencing model killed Apple's total integration model. I think the tables are in motion to turn on the software giant's empire as software in effect loses its value as a standalone product.

The IDC figures quoted by Microsoft serve to remind us of how current Mark Twain remains: There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.... I have talked to NO IT managers who believe Windows less expensive, on a TCO basis, than Linux.

Open source software is one of the two things that should keep Microsoft executives up at night--it shakes at the very core of their business and business model. The second is IBM, even if Microsoft won the first round.

    Best,

    Bob
