more like "a thread you'd see on macrumors". or a poll. it's hardly a paragraph long.

I missed the part where this was relevant to Apple. Why would this be considered news except to let the haters bleat to their little hearts content? This isn't macrumors at all its MSrumors.

Google is developing a lot of software (web apps, Android, Chrome browser and OS, etc.) to directly compete with the iPhone and OSX. They're arguably poised to become Apple's largest competitor on that side of the fence. MSYahoo keeping them on their toes in their core business -- search -- may take some of Google's resources away from innovating in the web/software side of things.

And besides, this is MacBytes... not Page 2 or even front page stuff.

Some of this stuff competes indirectly against the Mac. It would be interesting to hear how exactly these things compete directly against the iPhone and OS X. I would be particularly interested to learn how a Web app competes against either the iPhone, OS X, or the Mac.

im not really involved with the business or legal background; but I remember Google tried to swat at Yahoo and were almost hit with antitrust lawsuit.

Being Microsoft has its own search engine and similar concepts of google, wouldnt this rile up similar antitrust matters or is it that theyre not trying to outright own them?

i cant remember the last time i actually Yahoo'd anything.
