    "Adobe" means "Apple" (sorry for my stupid typo) I thought they are protecting their trademark and such very seriously :apple:

    It reminds me old joke about advertisement of BMW, Audi and Bentley (kinda "whatever" response) :D

    That's interesting point.

    It is interesting is that for me (I am right-handed) it is more natural to see the object moving from left to right (the stem will be bended to the left). Also , just noticed, when I bite an apple I usually hold it with the stem pointing away from the first bite mark

    For a second, I almost thought it was funny, and then I realized why it's not:

    Yet once again people, including Mac owners with mad "skillz" at Photoshop, still don't get that you don't advertise the competition in your own ads/whatever (no, I'm not a Linux advocate either). Every single time Apple or someone else, even in jest, puts "Windows" or mentions Windows or Microsoft or Vista in an ad, even a parody, it simply smacks of eliteness.

    If you're better, you don't need to say such things. Saying such things only heightens the elitist attitude which is already pretty damned smug as it is. It also has the rather obvious effect of looking pretty stupid too.

    Honda has never advertised themselves as better than their competition, nor have they ever compared themselves in any way. They don't even say things like "$2,000 less than a Toyota" or whatever.

    Ever.

    They don't have to. Companies with solid products don't have to stoop to such stupid depths to sell products. Why is Apple? Why do they continue to waste money on such idiotic mundane childish crap even in spite of the just announced profit of $1.14 billion. Hell, if they hadn't wasted probably $120 million or more on those stupid ads, shareholders would be getting another dime per share, maybe more... but that's not the case.

    iPod ads don't go around blasting how much better they are than the competition and they sell like mad. Why can't Apple actually spend advertising dollars on advertising their products instead of spending it on slamming the competition which realistically doesn't exist?

    Microsoft isn't in competition with Apple, they never have been. One's a hardware manufacturer that happens to make the OS for their own computers, the other is a software manufacturer that sells a computer operating system to other computer manufacturers.

    It's amazing that after all these years, that simple aspect still is the most misunderstood thing of all.

    When was the last time anyone saw an Apple COMPUTER advertisement that actually showed an Apple COMPUTER in the ad? And no, dammit, the iPhone or iPod touch don't count. :)

    Not quite sure about Honda, but I hear here and there all the time I see TV auto commercial something like "better MPG than toyota"

    Street billboard ads are mostly for average "Joe the plumber": buy this, shop here, eat this, etc. Those folks will never buy "this overpriced piece of nothing" if there are tons of PC and laptops available for sale in almost any electronics store at the price three times less. (I am not talking about iPhone/iPod which are targeted to "Joe with attitude" or "Wendy who is making personal statement").

    I like Ubuntu guys response to this "No Walls vs No Windows" battle:

    Um... on every ad about a Mac computer, like the MacBook Air? :rolleyes: If you're referring to the Mac vs PC ads, they're not about Mac computers... they're about Mac OS X vs Windows. They can't show a picture of an operating system.

    ..and the only way to advertise the OS is to show it running on a nicely looking computer. :apple:

    No, they're about Macs and PCs. Hence, "I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC." The reason they don't show computers or OSes, is because these ads are personifying the Mac and the PC.

    That's not true. Apple has been very successful, pointing out differences in capabilities between Mac OS X and Windows without demonstrating them on a computer. A demonstration takes longer and is more tedious than a 30-second or minute commercial will allow effectively. Car manufacturers can talk about faster performance without showing car-to-car races. Cable, satellite and DSL all talk about speed of their networks without showing it. People can understand concepts without always needing a visual crutch.

    If you take the time to watch the ads, you'll see they all refer to differences in the operating system capabilities. None of the Mac vs PC ads talk about hard drive capacity, ports, RAM, or any other hardware feature. PC refers to Windows.... regardless of the brand or model of computer it runs on. The Mac vs PC ads are about Microsoft, which makes operating systems, not hardware. Only a few ads even refer to the iSight camera, and one mentions the MagSafe adapter.

    It is true in case of DSL.
    But in case of new OS, to show it w/out running in on a computer, the demonstration looks mostly like "Bizzare Foods" with Andrew Zimmern @ Discovery: "Asian Woohoo-Moohoo-Babboo smells very interesting, looks disgusting, has rich texture and tastes promising". IMO

    The fact that they have mentioned hardware features means to me that they are talking about computers which, surprise, surprise, encompass both software AND hardware.
