Link: Microsoft's shift in direction for DirectX 10 may prove to be Apple's gain
Description:: Found at the heart of an assessment of Microsoft’s 2005 shift in direction for DirectX 10 written by Gavriel State, founder and CTO of TransGaming, you’ll find a simple yet powerful viewpoint which boldly states – “But for Microsoft, it means that DirectX 10 may prove to be irrelevant for their developer community.”

Seems a bit optimistic, but they may have a point. By cutting out the vast swath of XP users game developers will not target DirectX 10 exclusively until they see huge numbers of installed users, or unique features that will make their games sell more.
