Seems like that is the only CABLE, but it really is a shameless rip.

Just get this adapter: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=5311&seq=1&format=2 and a standard HDMI cable.

yes it clearly states it passes audio, actually if you look at the cable and the build. how much can you save with an adapter and similar quality cable.. as in small 'plug head' light flexible etc...

I prefer this especially if I am travelling with it.. playing my own movies in the hotel room for example...

just wondering if there are similar cables guess not :)

With Kanex you are paying the price for a custom cable with mini DP on one end and HDMI on the other instead of using a clunky adapter in between. I use their mini DP to DP cable which works quite well and is well made unlike the garbage you get from Monoprice which is very hit or miss. The Kanex DP cable is not nearly as highly priced as this one because Mini DP to DP is easier to make.
I do understand how HDMI/Digital signals work btw but you still have to consider the construction of the cable ends.
Personally I'll pay the $ for a good quality cable that nixes the adapter in between.

This is a long cable btw so if 3' will do you then its $12.95.

    Or a 6 foot for $17.95

No wonder its so cheap, I have determined all the cheap cables dont do audio:

Hello , my name is James B:

Thank you for contacting the E-Mail Sales Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

No, that does not support audio. Kanex does make an adapter that does. It will require a standard HDMI cable as well. I will provide you with the product numbers.
