Apple's MobileMe Gallery application has received a minor update today, fixing a few bugs while delivering new support for iPhone 4. With the update, the application can now download higher-resolution versions of images hosted on MobileMe when used on an iPhone 4 and connecting over Wi-Fi. The change allows users to take advantage of iPhone 4's 960 x 640 "Retina" display to view images in crisper detail.

Unfortunately, the update does not yet bring native iPad compatibility to the application, a feature which would seem to be a logical addition to allow users to browse their MobileMe image galleries on the device's larger screen.

What is going on in the software dept at 1 infinite loop?

Not only is this update overdue, but its the only one of Apple's own iPhone apps to even be touched for iOS4 or the iPhone 4.

None of the Apps have been updated to a universal version with iPad support.

Oh, but Find my iPhone was critically important to have out on launch...

    It's embarrassing.

I mean, what kind of example does this set for other devs? Apple expects their developers of technically completed products (apps) to be updated asap to support all of the latest features of the latest devices. Yet they themselves have half a dozen critical apps that haven't even been touched?

I agree, Apple knows when they will release a product, there should not be a reason to not have their Apps updated to support a new OS... And they really need to get the iPad department working to keep up as well. Come on Apple give us some updates. ;-)

Yes, this is most disapointing. I have been wanting this app on my iPad ever since I got one. This is even more glaring since you can't even access Apple's own MobileMe site from the iPad - which is another rant entirely.

The iPad updating of their own apps is quite sad.

The remote app which is a must with a networked express and/or Apple TV setup would truly benefit from not only being updated to run at something other than 2x mode, but a whole new iPad UI. And it should have been ready on April 3rd when the iPad was released. Same goes true for the Gallery and iDisk apps.

I don't want to run any Apple apps in 2x or worse 1x mode on an iPad. Likewise, just like the Settings app and others, rethink the UI instead of blowing up the image.

I been very disappointed with :apple: support with the iPad and mobile me, they have not even got iDisk, and I though they should allow other apps to sync data with iDisk. I get the impression, Apple does not know what to do with mobileme, just like :apple:TV, products that do not integrate well into the apple solution.

I would really like to be able to upload my photos from my iPad straight to MobileMe (without any image reduction).

I've updated the app and frankly I really can't tell a difference. I downloaded direct from phone, so unless it downloaded the old version I'm not impressed. The thumbnails still look low rez to me (and not the beautifully sharp images the 4 display is capable of) and the pictures don't look better in my opionion. Would need to do an A/B comparison later with my wife's 3GS.

    Not completely off-topic...

Am I the only one who notices that photos taken on the iPhone 4 front camera look wonky in this app? For one, the rotation is opposite what the original photo was.

On the MobileMe gallery web page, IP4 front camera photos are rotated correctly, however the aspect ratio is way off making everything look fat.

I agree with what some people have said however with the delay of 4.0 for the ipad I would not be surprised if they end up having this feature within its native photos apps.

For someone like Steve who is so over everything it would just surprise me why they would have delays with no reason, there must be an end game reason as to why or else people have to start loosing their jobs.

I'm surprised this post didn't get deleted since it's clearly spam.
