Just look. You know you all agree. Especially, i'm sure, eye and iGav.
YES! YES! YES! Comic Sans, the chosen font of every 10 year old (and sad idiot with a free "hompage" on yahoo etc.).
every ten year old and secretary-cum-graphic designer.
yup, them to, god luv 'em
don't get me started...don't EVEN get me started!
Oh you guys didn't know....once you get an account support/coordinator position, you are bestowed with a Graphic Design degree. Forget school and years of experience...this is the fast track to being a designer. ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!
At this rate this topic will be wasted by sundown.
Not to mention I have to sponsor a ban tonight against selling newly created folders on eBay.
They could have added an Arial section as well.... faux Helvetica wannabe...
LOL ... i remember when i was using PC back in the day in my first design work ... and i had mentioned Arial ... the designers i was working with (all on mac) looked me "ari. what?"
feel better about yourself.... kick seven kinds of sh*t out of Arial here....
That is awesome ...
One of our secretaries quit over a year ago and I am STILL trying to get Comic Sans out of all the forms and newsletters! She even used it on invoices and billings!
I hell yeah!! I cannot tell u how many times I've talked clients out of using that crap in the past!
that and Brush Script right??
I think sand is worse.
my problem was always with Chicago. ****ing hate that font, should have never been created. it's aesthetically horrible! i know, it was designed for easy readability at small sizes. i don't really care. damn, it was on EVERYTHING... the little town that i grew up in, the newspaper editor thought she could do ad-design... and, swear to god, every ad was a 4 point border surrounding 16 point chicago text. i stopped reading the paper. the clients should have complained. the worst part, it was actually used in an episode of The Simpsons, animated! i don't remember where but there it was.
thankfully, it's all but gone, but my FRIGGING IPOD still uses it... the one thing that i hate about it. Charcoal would be better. Anything would be better.
i've never really thought about comic sans, usually i just say "idiot" when i see it used, but it has really gotten annoying.
Arial doesn't bother me as much, because it's so simple. i'd rather they use Arial than any number of overused "theme" fonts...
what ever happened to Palatino? i loved that font. so crisp, so well proportioned...
ahhh yes, like a monkey on your back...wanna' buy a monkey?
I like chicago ... don't care much for Palatino though .... personal preference though ...
dude...I almost posted that one...
(I'm surprised this thread didn't end up like "one of those"...)
Charcoal...wow. That got annoying to use in OS 9.
Comic Sans I don't have much of a problem with, except when it's used in multiple colors and appears bright on a dark background. Attractively annoying.
Palatino... rarely do I want to touch serif fonts, but I have recently taken to the likes of Palatino. Especially this demonstration of album artwork (mine), the font is evidently useful:
(If one doesn't work, try the other. Or try both several times.)
I'm surprised people don't like Arial as much as I expect. I think Helvetica, much less the Neue variation, is poorly shaped...as if someone stepped on certain characters of the font and punched in sections of others.
Futura is nice, Myriad Pro is slick, "Hei" is all right, but the " ' " character requires a second font.
My personal favorite is Times New Roman. I prefer serif style.
Lucida Grande and Verdana, i like using Trebuchet MS some times as well
All Hail Garamond!
Myriad is my personal favourite at the moment
