i know that many people are quite tired of the whole browser war issue starting again, but i just had to post. ive been increasingly impressed with the quality of the nightly mozilla builds and decreasingly impressed with the development of chimera.

i just got the latest nightly and it is ridiculously fast. not only that but i have yet to run into any problems as far as java/quicktime/etc go. the lack of aqua widgets pains me a little, but its a price im willing to pay. by the way i use the orbit skin from http://themes.mozdev.org

i think its time that the chimera developers pull forward to the new mozilla trunk, because it is leaps and bounds better than the 1.0rc2 code.

edit: also i am using silk to keep smooth spacing as well.

edit2: nevermind, mozilla also has fixed the spacing issues with font smoothing. wow they have come a long way.

I think .3 of Chimera is pretty good and they said that they would probably only release .4, .5 etc. so theres a larger gap in between..however, I have found the latest nightly's after .3 to be pretty stuffed up although there are improvements in some areas...I'll give Mozilla another go :)

ya i am overall happy with the progress of chimera nightlies as far as features and fixes goes, but i really think that they have taken the rc1 code as far as it can go. its time to pull back to the mozilla trunk again.

may i suggest using orbit retro as well. its kind of a nice hybrid of an OS X theme with the original orbit.

The latest release is Mozilla 1.0. Get it from mozilla.org.

1.1 final should improve things a lot for us OS X users. The alphas have anti-aliasing enabled and scroll great under OS X. Very nice.

THAT is the info I was looking for... When the 1.1 comes out of alpha and beta releases, I will look at it. I have had too many issues with alpha and beta software releases to use them any longer. I am also very careful about full release software that I install on my Mac. Since Sharity f*cked up my airport connection that is.

Oooops! Sorry, but this alpha release as I said is VERY good and stable, I'd give it a go, I doubt you'd be dissapointed.

all mozilla is basically alpha. they just arbitrarily put a version name on builds based on deadlines. there really is no difference between mozilla 1.0 and .9.9+ builds except a few weeks of bug fixes. thats just the way mozilla works.
