mp3 to wma??

    Please can someone help?? I'm trying to find software (preferably free) to convert mp3 or wav files to windows media files.. wma wmv or asf

    If anyone knows of such a thing please let me know.. I've been looking for hours now!

    Not likely to find anything free. Windows Media formats are proprietary and as such Microsoft licenses the technology = the companies that make the conversion software need to make their money back = you have to pay for the programme.

    I haven't used this program before so maybe someone else has. It looks like it will do the conversions you are looking for. The download version is $19.95.

    Thanks Chasemac.. I'll take a look at that.

    With regard to why.. I'm attempting to upload some songs onto a tag radio site which only accepts windows media formats. Bit of a pain.. I might just sack it in if i can't find anything soon and find something else to waste my time.

    Any other suggestions most welcome... and if anyone can recommend alternative radio sites which don't need the windows formats....thanks in advance!

    This was a Microsoft product untill they spun it off. MS still links to it from their site
