Is your laptop a Mac? What model MP3 player do you have?

What modle? does it say its mac supported on the box? If it is supported you might get a software that allows you to put music onto it or you might just drag them onto the player.

Okay, what model of Samsung player do you have?

Some Samsung units, but not all, use the MTP protocol to transfer files. There is no built-in support in iTunes or OS X for this protocol. It is impossible to tell if this matters in your case without knowing what model MP3 player you have.

There is a Mac program called XNJB that has some MTP support. It is really intended for Creative players, but you could try it and see if you get lucky.
