I spent many hours downloading my dvds using mac the ripper and mpeg streamclip to convert them to mp4s so that I could put them on my ipod classic and take them with me when traveling (and spent $50 for an apple composite cord so that I could watch them on TV). After some moisture got into my 6 month old 80G ipod (total loss), I got a new 120G ipod classic. Now my movies won't sync, although I check sync all movies. I don't know if it's the new ipod or an itunes upgrade (they play fine in itunes on the computer). But the message I get is that there are no "rented" movies in my iTunes library that can be transferred to this ipod. What about the ones I own?!
    Thanks for reading,
    Jon

I have the exact same problem, minus the 80GB fiasco bit. Wish I could find a solution.

    Try This:

Go to Itunes and under "Advanced" scroll down to "Create iPod or iPhone version". This should work. Hope that helps.

All iPods and iPhones seem to have a limitation that doesn't accept DVD resolution movies. You have to encode a special version that is lower resolution for them to work.
