    Ok
I've got my CD burner on an upgraded beige G3 (to a G4 400) but only running OS 9.2.2
    The CD burner is SCSI.
I have a Powebook G3 running OS X 10.2.6 and have purchased several iTunes and want to burn a CD. Do I:
    1. Take the plunge and upgrade to OSX 10.2 with the beige desktop (my main work machine which makes me hesitant in case I run into compatibility problems)
    2. Try to figure out how to convert mp4 files to mp3 files so I can burn the disc.
My main problem with upgrading is trying to find drivers for the USB/Firewire card and the CDR drive.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

To make them mp3s you have to burn them to CD (audio CD) and then rip them as mp3. I haven't found any other way to do it.

I'm a little confused as to which computer has which devices, but if you could burn on the Powerbook you'd be al set.

Jaguar on a beige G3--yeah, expect some compatibility problems. You'll lose your floppy drive and a few other older things. You can still boot to OS 9 and have use of those things though.

wherein lies the problem... not knowing much about mp4 yet, can I transfer files to the beige G3 running OS 9.2 and rip an audio CD?
All I really want to do is burn CDs I can play in my car.
Nice website (but I could do without the intro photo!)

If you can get software that supports AAC for OS 9 then you're in good shape. The backbone of that would be Quicktime. I never use 9 so I don't keep my apps current-- I don't know if there's a QT 6 for OS 9.

Sorry if I grossed you out with that picture. I wanted to make a "splash screen" and I thought about the word "splash" and remembered I had that picture. You see how my mind works?
