Seeing as everybody seems to be compiling best-of-year lists, I thought I'd follow suit with a 'best-dressed' thread of 2004... only for the reason that both of them gave me a good laugh and were hugely entertaining.

    My two nominations are:

Bought a G5 and got Two bags of topsoil

    and...

    iPod Socks Do-It-Yourself

    Happy New Year everyone!

p.s. Prob. in wrong forum but didn't feel it was quite right for 'Site Feedback'

I love "Inkmonkey Needs a Gimmick" thread. I particulary like where posters were poking fun at the different styles of posting. It turns out that there are some easily identified ways of posting. check it out, you'll see.

I loved the P-P-P-Powerbook thread. Scamming a scammer. Does it get any better?

Sweet Grammy Gibbons! Wow! It's an honour just to be nominated. I have so many people to thank...MacDawg, emw, Hexmonkey, Doctor Q, and of course powermac666. Jeese, I hope I don't forget anyone....
    alright, enough of that.

I've really enjoyed any thread where someone can't make their own decision on what, when, or where to buy. And they of course put bolded HELP in the title so that everyone knows what an urgent matter of life or death it is.

The Shadow is well pleased, Monkey-san.

I thought the gimmick thread was loads of fun, also. Definitely gets my vote.

Ah yes, the "feel good hit of the year." Of course, it always helps when you open so close to voting time. ;)

I thought 18thtomorrow's hehe ... another pathetic dating thread was pretty good. A lot of people had ... "interesting" advice, and the back-and-forth between psuedobrit and blackfox early in the thread was pretty funny.

edesignuk's Keira thread is also quite great. I can't believe there's 25 pages!

How transparent of him to propose so close to voting time just to win the coveted MR thread of the year! :p

So hard, since there are so many great threads.

The ones that come from the heart rank up there with me:

    - The thread for magazines for Kuwait

    - The thread from the guy that his wife was cheating on him

    - The one's about recent job losses

    - Even the one I had about my other half and his operation

As I mentioned in a thank you post. This place is a family. And the support I see here is just so wonderful. And as I mentioned before, as a family we don't always see eye to eye; but for the most part we come through in the end.

...and we have our first acceptance speech!!! :D

Really though, I couldn't agree more. Almost better than family in a certain sense, being that you can "walk out of the room" without recrimination whenever you don't agree with a post.

Thanks. I thought long and hard about mentioning my own thread. But I did because so many members here came to my "time of need" with kind words and encouragement. So for me it was a thread of note for 2004.

Your last point is right on the head though. I can not count the number of threads that I bowed out of because I did not want to bang my head against the wall on. Unlike being trapped at a relatives house the weekend with no way out but the Ramada Inn. Then you open up a new can of worms with that one.... :D

I enjoy the threads most where I can make a difference in someone's life. It is all part of being a family, to be there for those in need. We have those threads that make us laugh also. The rumors that keep us up to date and informed.

I'm honored to be mentioned :)

I enjoy this forum a lot. Thanks to everyone for making it a good place to be. I often think I "waste" too much time here...resolve to do better...then always end up coming back for more.

    Cheers to everyone!
