I've recently switched to Mac, and have looked at several different publishing platforms. Most of them seem to be far more powerful than I need. I used Publisher on the PC to layout some simple newsletters and theatre programs, etc. and am looking for an inexpensive application for the Mac that will do the same. I've used Illustrator enough to know that it's kind of a pain.

Basically, I'd like to do some light-moderate layout with multi-page capabilities as well as clip art, text effects, etc. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, as always, in advance...

PS While I'm at it, any recommendations for a FrontPage replacement (less than $200, relatively straightforward to use, etc.)

Since you need both print and web capabilities, one application would seem to fit: Deneba Canvas.

If I remember, it does photo editing, vector drawing, precision layout, and also web work. There's also a Lite version.

Adobe PageMaker, its a classic app and allows you to do well. Plus 6.5 is great and eBay has it about $20

Also Apple Works 6 can do that, just use the toolbox, which will allow you to do anything to Text or Presentation Files.

You could always get a cheap copy of indesign of ebay, it is very easy to use and powerful. It is easy to achieve professional looking results without the expense of something like Quark Xpress.
