Apple has posted the full Quicktime stream for yesterday's Keynote speech.
Alright, now i have something to help me sleep at night!
Hear the silence as he annouces the iPod mini!
There's only silence after announcing its price.
Yeah, the silence after the iPod mini price announcement was embarrassing/sad/etc. I was also like, "What the hell?!"
I've just got to listen to stevo announce international iPhoto books compatability ($70 for iLife '04 in UK) with the really condescending voice that said I don't CARE about international customers.
I've now decided not to splash on an iPod until iTMS is international.
I thought I heard him apologize for that?
So I was walking to class this morning and I was behind these two guys having a pretty spirited discussion. I heard the word "iPod" and so I perked up my ears.
Turns out both of them are PC users. One of them has been saving up for an iPod for a while, and was really excited by the rumors for the $150 mini iPod the last few weeks (this is the first time I've ever known non-Apple users caring enough about Apple products to pay attention to Apple rumors). I was really happy to see that the buzz around the iPod has been so good that these PC users were paying attention to *rumors*!
But then the guy says something like, "... it's a little smaller, but only 4 gigs, and costs $250! I was totally disappointed. And then I went to the store and they said that the minis won't be here for another month anyway. I said, screw it. And bought the Dell instead."
The other guy then chimes in with some comment about "That company. It's always missing the boat."
I didn't want to eavesdrop on them any more after that.
Hey, Apple can do no wrong, right?
i agree, it sounded as though sj was quite humbled by the fact that europeans didn't have this option before... soundedsincere to me.
i think the silence shows just how many apple users actually log into mac rumor sites and the like...
however, a lot ofpopular media clung onto thi story as well so i guess it's not all got t do with the rumor sites.
i really see the rumour sites as having a detrimental effect on apple now, because it led to everyon being dissapointed...
I have quicktime pro, is there a way I can save the whole keynote on my hard drive?
anybody else having problems connecting? i'm running a 600k connection...?
I had probs connecting too, go to sys prefs-qt- transport settings- and change the type to http. It will now work, enjoy...
Re: One anecdote
Right. It's the non-believers that are wrong! A pox on their Dell computers!
running 98se, wanted to watch the keynote, and it starts up quicktime, looking as tho it will display the video too, but after it starts, it goes audio only.. whats going on?
I have QuickTime Pro also. It seems that Apple never allows to download a Keynote Address to our hard drive. There was a note on the live feed saying that no reproduction was allowed. If there are any questions to contact Apple's Public Relations Department.
There is a way it can be done with VLC 0.7.0 . It seems complicated but someone could get it done, the WWDC keynote appeared on bittorrent sometime last year.
Why buy Dell?
Even though the iPod mini is $249, why did the PC user still opt for the Dell Pud? $249 (Dell Pud 15 GB) vs. $299 (iPod 15 GB). Not that much of a price difference. I'll never understand why PC (l)users choose the lesser option to save a few bucks. Anyone notice how Dell keeps the iPod on their web site so they can show the price difference? Of course, they only show the 20 GB for comparison, and not the 15.
I'm surprised nobody's started one of those damn useless net petitions to get the price to come down on the miniPod.
And, I'm NOT surprised that this thread has also turned to discussing the price problem. Every Mac-based forum should temporarily be re-tasked to complaining about the miniPod.
This might just be me but i found the live and the now on demand streams to be very diffrent for one the orginal live version will suffer because of the 600 thousned people using it myself included. the streamed demand version now seems much much better
on the side note of the iPod and the silence lmao what do people really except this is apple it aint gona be cheap..
