come on guys, leave him alone. simply saying that he can post this in the "post your mac setup: past and present!" thread would be more useful than the comments you have made.

I would have to agree. I did a similar post when I first joined. Had people attacked me in this way, I may not have (attempted) to contribute to this site financially, or with posts in regards to helping others. Lets not make new members jaded, and become trolls by attacking them for innocent posts like this.

I am getting you purchased an ipod before you purchased the ibook? If so, this backs me up in my thinking that the ipod was a great business move for Apple in that people get them and then they rush out to learn more about Apple. When they see how wonderful the Mac OS is, they jump to get their first Mac, and they go from there.

Or it can work in reverse as well. I'm a case in point here, as I first became enamored of the Mac. I've had my iMac for over a month now and only the other day did I finally get around to doing anything with iTunes. I never downloaded music into my old PCs (one had a damaged sound card and with the other I just never thought about it). Although I'd looked at the iPods each and every time I've been in the Apple store, I never quite understood the appeal beyond the form factor and sheer beauty of the things. So yesterday I spent the greater part of the day happily downloading music into iTunes from the iTunes store, organizing it into playlists and enjoying it on my iMac.... and what's the inevitable next step? You got it -- an iPod! NOW I understand the whole iPod thing and the tremendous appeal and flexibility of it.

OK, off to go download some more tunes! :)

Gonna ask Santa for an iPod for Christmas, you bet! :D

OTB, who is marveling at the whole new world she's just discovered...
