Hi,

I have a 1 TB WD My Passport. I'm desperately trying to connect it to my iMac, but it's not recognized.

I've even tried to format it, but all I get is this:

Repair disk doesn't work. You can see it by yourself:

Needless to say the drive has little use, so I doubt it's been damaged.

Was the drive ever encrypted at any time? The message you got usually occurs when the drive was encrypted or was part of a fusion drive.

Are you just trying to erase it to re-use it or do you need to recover data from it?

In fact the drive was encrypted. The procedure described in the article worked perfectly.
