I just got home from work tonight and sat down to check my email. Upon opening the Mail application it asked me if I wanted to import mail boxes from another program and then prompts me for a password for an address i haven't used in over six months. What gives? It seem all of my new settings and messages are gone!!

Any ideas what happened, how to fix it, and how to prevent this in the future?

yep... that'll do it.

Happened to me. I think just the prefs file is hosed. Check your Library/Mail directory... your mail should be there. I cleared out my drive space and restored my Prefs file from backup.

(this is all assuming a full drive is what caused it). I think lots of prefs are lost if this is the case.
