Last night I installed windows!!! I then installed half life 2 and cs source. The windows partition was horribly fragged so I figured id defrag while I sleep. I woke up this morning on the computer was off. I went to turn it on, the white light lit for a half second and then shut off while, from the sounds of it the dvd drive would begin and then shut off as well. Tried that a few times and nothing. I figured I'd try and hold the power button. Big no no. It sounded like an alarm went off and the white light start flashing... Immediately let go. Looked up on my other computer how to reset PRAM, had no effect. At this point I was stunned. Tried without the power hooked up to it. Nothing. Then I took the battery out and tried. Viola! It worked! Now everything is back to normal!

Anyone ever experience this or possibly know what happend? Did my computer overheat while I was sleeping?

I don't think that was my issue. Looking at the boot rom version, I have MBP22.00A5.B01 and the version listed for that firmware update is MBP11.0055.B08.

Yeah I do. But I wasn't applying any firmware updates. Plus it doesn't say anything about an alarm going off. And once I released the button, it shut itself off again. Nothing was trying to update.

You accidentally put it into firmware update mode and yes it is scary if you don't know what it's doing. There's a rather loud beep that can startle most people.

    Is there anything else?

    Oh I see.

Appreciate the quick feedback. Good to know that nothing was actually wrong with my computer.

    Thank you.
