So, I was reading the 10.4.3 Update thread when I saw this post and realized that I wasn't the only one who had ran across this issue.

What I HAVE concluded is that people who have embedded WMVs from videocodezone.com, videocodeszone.com, or videocodes4u.com (whichever applies), on their page, will crash Mac browsers, even the Firefox 1.5 beta.

How do I know this? Every Mac user's best friend, Terminal.app. My ex-girlfriend had a video from there, I have a couple of friends whose pages I cannot view because they have videos from there, and at one point, one of them left a comment on MY PAGE with a video from there. I wasn't too thrilled about that one.

For those familiar with using Terminal who would like to confirm this, try the following:
    Code:
    curl www.myspace.com/yourfriendspage > ~/Desktop/friend.html
    cat ~/Desktop/friend.html | grep -i 'videocode'

Check the output for an <embed> tag with src='http://www.videocodezone.com/videos/...

The bigger problem with MySpace is when people stalk their ex-girlfriends.

    Myspace.

When the PC was in the shop because of a virus, my sister had to use my mac to do homework (homework meaning adium, itunes, myspace, and maybe an office document). She kept saying macs suck because she couldn't go on her friends myspace.

...so what exactly does this do? Does it disable the videos or does it just make them work?

I actually broke up with her because of what I had read on her myspace blog. Can't go into details here, but it's all in my myspace blog.

It doesn't disable the videos. It's just a way to check if that person's page has a video from that particular website. If a large amount of people can confirm this, then we will be one step closer to figuring out how/why this is happening.

I was reading some other threads and found that if you go into Safari's Preferences > Security and uncheck 'Enable plug-ins', it should disable embedded media (WMV, Flash, etc.). When you're done, just make sure to check the box again.

Rather than disabling all of your plug-ins to avoid the MySpace problem. I just uninstalled the WMV plug-in. I mean, its not like I ever really need it that bad!

Take it out of user/library/internet plug-ins
Voila, go visit all your friends pages.
