I have a PowerMac G5 (Single 1.8) with 1.25 gb ram and an X800XT 256mb card running 10.4.8. Yet I just purchased this game and it runs very choppy, even with all the settings off. I tihnk my computer is more then capable of runing this game. The worst part are the full motion videos which run at about 7 frames a second, sropping frames consistantly.

I am also on a 24 inch dell at 1920 by 1200 res., is that a problem?

    Thanks!:apple:

apparently the sys. requirements are very specific, with UBI saying that only certain chipsets can even run the game:

    Mac® System Requirements:
Supported OS: OSX 10.2, 10.3 (only)
Processor: G4 667 MHz or better
    RAM: 128 MB RAM
Video Card: 32 MB video card
    Sound Card: Standard
    QuickTime: Version 5 or higher
    DVD: 4x DVD or faster
Hard Drive Space: 3.5 GB free
*Supported video cards at time of release
    ATI® Radeon™ 7500 to 9600 or better
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ 2/4/FX families

If you hadn't already done so, make sure youve patched the game to the latest release point, as they will undoubtedly expand their hardware capabilities.

Oh and yes, the resolution that you have set is quite high. Although the game isn't brand new, reducing resolution will almost always boost your framerate significantly.

    But the demo ran great:confused:

Also, should it take about 3-5 seconds to load every time you click to a new location?

Actually, I do believe that's normal for Myst IV.

    Myst Revalations

I am running this on a 2ghz Imac with 2gig and a 400gig hard drive and Myst Rev is running fine. What I do for games is to create a separate partition for games and then I boot into that partition. It seems like when I do this games have less of a chance of causing problems with serious programs and printer and fax programs have less of a chance of interfering with games.

If you have or can borrow a copy of tech tool, try defragging your hard drive. The parts of your hard drive that Myst is accessing for virtual memory may be all over your hard drive. With a defragged drive, your pewter may be able to find a large block for virtual memory, which may be where your chop is coming from.
