...if you got to Shynola's Website.

And check the work section for 2003 you'll see a music promo for Queens Of The Stone Age, was wondering what software and hardware they'll use for this work.

I know my way around after effects, cinema 4d and combustion etc but have no idea where to start with something like that.

It's obviously complex masks and vector processing but I've always wondered how they did their stuff, which is incredible.

    Anyway, Cheers Christian.

It looks like Flash work and then rendered to video.

    Flash

Been using Flix Pro with MX 2004 and got similar results but still at full size video res and the amount of frames in something like that the rendering time is gonna be ridiculous.

    Wonder if it's a silicon graphics set-up?

Surely using a Symphony or such, it'd be fairly quick. It's mostly masks and the simplified colour work (intentionaly, of course) and then compressing out motion artifacts (which would be desired) should make rendering a fairly fast process. An SGI wouldn't really be necessary (especially since none of the work shown seems particulary dependent on a external graphics subsystem) You could create the same effects in Shake, but the resulting video they've produced seems particularly "easy to do"/"apt to be done" in Flash.
