The strength of Hezbollah had dealt a severe blow to US plans for a new Middle East peace process, he told the crowds.

The BBC's Arab affairs analyst Magdi Abdelhadi, says the fiery speech consolidated his position as an unrivalled pan-Arab leader and a consummate Lebanese politician.

I must be missing something here, whats so clever about being able to thwart a ME peace process. Why is this a valued and respected position in the Arab world?

u call it "peace effort" doesn't make it a peace plan in other's eye. especially they have people in israeli prison, and their land is occupied by Israel

Why the double talk? I mean the guy comes straight out and says what we all really know to be true, that not enough of the Arab population wants peace with Israel.

He hasn't mentioned anything in particular just a general happiness that he has thwarted efforts for peace. He is proud of the general concept of no peace.

This is entirely in keeping what we all already know but it is still amusing to see how the Arabs can cheer someone who's platform is to wreck peace efforts as a general principle.
