I plan on buying the 1.83Ghz Macbook from the apple store and i was wondering after my purchase would it be worth it to upgrade the HDD or the memory?
I would use the laptop for word processing and browsing the internet, maybe downloading music but i mite just leave that for my pc desktop.

Good question. In my opinion, the hard drive isn't too big of a deal. But, upgrading the memory is also nice. It just helps things overall run better. If you're anything like me and have Word, Mail, iChat, Safari, iTunes, and iCal running at the same time, the extra memory would help.

Only question is, do you want to have Apple install the memory when you order it, or do you want to personally do it afterward? By waiting, the advantage is knowning if you need it. By getting it right away, the advantage is not having to worry about it. Your call.

Microsoft Office Suite isn't universal yet, that would require more memory go for memory imho, you can update your hard drive later.

If that's all you do I think you'll be ok, but even adding a small 256 chip of ram may not be a bad idea. I think you'll be ok if your main computer is your desktop.

i think the 60gb should be more than enough, but i do think you should upgrade your RAM - especially if you're going to be working in Microsoft Office for your word processing.

i haven't used office, or any other program not native to my intel (i loaded CS2 into my windows partition so as to avoid rosetta), but i do have 1.25 gb of RAM on my MB and it's quite fast - i would think that for your needs a 1gig upgrade should be good.
