I have had my macbook for 1 month since i ditched windows (Holy **** i got the beach ball typing this message? Woah off topic). I use my Macbook for photoshop and movie making but i make rather large things in photoshop IE: Large A3 Posters. i am begining find to find it rather antagonising having to scroll down miles to get to the part i need to work on.

Ok this is the part i need to get your advice on. Do i:

    • Buy A Nice Big Monitor To Connect To The Macbook.
    • Sell The Macbook And Buy A Nice Big iMac

Crap it keeps beachballing while i'm typing i mean wtf? lol.

well it all depends if you need the portability.

if you want to be portable get a big screen a keyboard and mouse and use it that way.

if you arent so bothered about portable get a Imac :)

    hope this helps

If you are getting a beachball typing a forum reply, that suggests to me that you might need more RAM. That's the first thing that I would do; max out the RAM (I'm typing this on a MacBook with 2 gigs of RAM, no beachballs).

Barring that, it all depends on whether you need portability. If you are taking your laptop here and there, an iMac might not be what you need. If, however, you are not really needing the portability, and run programs (i.e. games) that might use the dedicated graphics card as opposed to that on the MacBook, then the iMac might serve you better. An extra monitor is nice too, but if you are fine without one, I'd save the money. :)

Edit (spelling): hting htat = thing that

    1. how much ram do you have? If you have less than 1GB, buy some more. The MacBook RAM is compatible with the iMac anyway, so its not a waste if you buy more.

    2. do you need portability? If no, buy an iMac. If yes, keep macbook.

edit; damn people who can type faster than me :p

Well i do need portability but i also have a Dell Inspiron laptop which i could carry around. Actually come to think of it why don't i sell the Dell to save up :p
Now all i need is a IMac for the price of a Dell Inspiron 6000....yikes they aint worth much these days.. Although mine may be worth a little more than the ebay ones because i put a 100 gb hd in it and it has a clip on cover...all that being said i can't afford a IMac selling the dell. Oh well looks like i'm buggered for now :(

Edit @ebouwman: Spinny multi colored thing you get when your macs loading. Looks kinda like a beach ball :p

Jesus! wow! How long ago and what were the specs xD Mine is

    Intel Celeron M
700 and sumin RAM (I forgot and can't be bothered with starting it up to check)
    DVD/CD RW (Does it all)
    100 GB HD

Even if i did get what you got that wouldnt come near to the cost of an IMac.
I wouldn't be able to cope with the speed of a PPC now that ive used an Intel Mac so this could be quite expensive. I could sell valuable things i guess but all i have is Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix book signed by the person who played Percy Weasly
